The Department of Flight Training was established to meet the increasing need for pilots trained in accordance with international civil aviation standards, in parallel with the development rate of the Turkish civil aviation sector.
The academic education comprises a total of 8 semesters. During the first 3 semesters, academic education mainly focused on general aviation knowledge is provided. Subsequently, upon completion of the first semester of the second year, flight training begins and is conducted together with theoretical knowledge training. Theoric and flight training education implemented at ESTU consists of 2074 hours total.
Students of the Department of Flight Training are trained by completing integrated airline transport pilot training to a level at which they can serve as co-pilots on multi-pilot, multi-engine aircraft in commercial air transport, and they are enabled to obtain the CPL(A)/IR(A) licence. In addition, they also acquire the competencies to fly as pilot-in-command on any aircraft not engaged in commercial air transport, and to fly as pilot-in-command in single-pilot certified commercial air transport.
